Resources are necessary for survival. You cannot live without them. Without heat, you will freeze. No food? Your gonna starve, No liquids? You might wanna find some. Fresh clothing might be nice too. Medicine is a must. All of these things can be found in various places, but resources are still scarce. When the outbreak started, people looted the stores. So good luck finding what you need. Its all about survival. Find what you need, and stave off the infected horde, and you might just have a chance to survive the apocalypse.
Places to find Food: Check convenient stores, corner stores, gas stations, abandoned shopping centers. Same for Liquids.
Places to find Medicine: Check a doctors office, or the nurses office at a school. Or perhaps even a local hospital. It may or may not have what you need. A local pharmacy is also a nice thing.
Gasoline: This is absolutely needed for any FUNCTIONAL vehicles or power tools that require it like a chainsaw. It can only be found at gas stations, or if your lucky, perhaps someone left a filled gas can laying around.
Heat: If a house has power, it likely has heat. It may not be central heat though. It could just be a small heater or some blankets laying around. Keeping out of the cold can be important. Someone gets sick..... well, we'll leave that up to you.
Vehicles: You need car keys, or you could try to hotwire it(Though that'll take some skill.). Cars run on gas, so make sure you don't run out. Otherwise, you might be screwed. Be realistic about how much is left in the tank, and dont try to keep a vehicle forever. It may be able to get you out of a sticky situation, but that might be all its good for.
